Farmer's Markets

Island life has always inspired farmers and artisans dedicated to creating organic, sustainable and quality foods.  Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands are no exception.  Dozens of small farms demonstrate these principles producing everything from organic fruits, specialty cheeses and meats and alpaca woolens.

From May through October many communities host weekend markets, usually on Saturdays. Each market has its own unique flavor featuring produce from the immediate area together with locally made arts and crafts.

The Old Country Market
Famous for its "goats on the roof", the market has been open for 30 years. Inside the Market, find the freshest local produce, a selection of gifts from the all over the world, a delicatessen that specializes in a variety of international meats and cheeses, as well as selections of groceries from many European countries. You will also find a bakery and a restaurant featuring a wide selection of burgers, wraps and sandwiches.
