One important decision you have in the purchase of your home is the inspection. The question is whether you need a Home Building Inspection or a Building Envelope Analysis. I recommend you speak with each of the contractors below to see which may be best suited for you. A Home Building Inspection includes an evaluation of all the major, accessible elements and systems of a home, including built-in major appliances and is performed according to industry standards. A Building Envelope Analysis inspects the main envelope components of the home including, roof, walls, windows, structure etc. These are much more expensive to repair than many items found in a standard home inspection. A good example is whether to use a regular home inspector or a Building envelope inspector for a home with stucco siding. The building Envelope inspection can be invasive and determine what the condition of the structure is behind the stucco in the event of wood rot.
