Think of yourself as zeroing in on a target. Consider area (Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Nanoose, Nanaimo); community (urban or rural); neighborhood (older and settled or a newer development); a particular school zone; golf courses; and other community services such as transportation. Ask yourself how much time you are willing to commute to work.

Think about home styles. How much space do you need? What style of home meets your needs? Consider size and type of property. Do you want a newer home, or maybe an older one to fix up?  Consider how long you expect to live in this particular home.
